General
Q. What does KDR stand for?
A. Knowledge - Will allow us to exceed our customer's expectations and deliver more value for their money. We learn their needs; we build tight partnerships on every project and proactively seek feedback so that the service we provide continuously improves.
Design - We approach the planning and coordination of a project by working closely with the designer/engineer to put the client's ideas on paper. We design to a budget not budget the design.
Reliability - We are committed to a higher level of advance planning and produce schedules that are realistic. We will review manpower requirements, material and equipment deliveries, safety considerations and the time of requirement of each activity.
Q. How long has KDR been in business?
A. KDR has been in business for four years. The company's founder has been in this industry for 18 years and has been involved in every stage of a multitude of both residential and commercial construction projects.
Q. How long will it take to build my home?
A. It depends on a number of factors such as: size of home, season, design, client selections and product availability. KDR will give you a detailed schedule once contract is signed and permits are in place.
Q. What sets KDR apart from the competition?
A. Simply put, KDR does not budget to the design, we design to the budget. When building, it is often very easy to get carried away with "extras". The result: you built something that is more than you can realistically afford. At KDR, we sit with our client and ensure that our client knows exactly what they are getting before the project begins. We work very closely with our clients to ensure that everything on their wish list is discussed and decided upon before the project leaves the ground. The result: our clients know what the project is going to cost them at the time they sign their contract. There are no "unforseens" along the way. The amount KDR clients spend on "extras" is very low in comparison to our competition, who often charge an excess of 20% above a projects anticipated costs on extras. At KDR, it is not uncommon to be in a credit position when it comes to extras!!!
Q. Is KDR's work warranted?
A. Yes.
Commercial Projects: KDR has commercial liability insurance in place for its commercial projects. A certificate of insurance will be provided at project commencement.
Residential Projects: KDR has insurance in place for all construction projects we are contracted out for. In addition, all residential construction falls under our membership with the National Home Warranty Program.
Q. How much does KDR charge per square foot?
A. It depends. KDR Design Builders will sit down with our clients and discuss exactly what you have in mind. Once we determine the design, size and finishes that you wish to have, KDR will provide a detailed estimate including specifications.
Q. Is KDR COR certified?
A. KDR is not COR certified currently, but is working to achieve this status. We have a Safety Officer on staff and a comprehensive safety program is being implemented.
Q. What is KDR's target market?
A. At this point, we really do not have one. Our focus is on building. Whether you are interested in building new or renovating your existing home or business, KDR's experience and knowledge will provide you with comprehensive estimates and excellent results.
Q. What areas will you build a custom home?
A. KDR builds primarily in Winnipeg and its surrounding areas, but we can build outside this region if our client wishes.
Q. What areas will you build cottages?
A. KDR builds primarily in Victoria Beach, the Whiteshell area and in Kenora, but we can build in other areas if our client requires.
Q. Are there additional costs for cottages located in remote areas such as on islands, winter roads, or unpaved roads?
A. Cottages that are built on remote sites will definitely have additional costs associated with them. The cost of these extra variables will be determined at the time KDR prices your project.
Q. Can KDR build a house that I have designed?
A. For sure. We will sit down with you and discuss exactly what is on your wish list, then we will provide you a comprehensive estimate for the home you wish to build.
Q. What type of materials does KDR typically use?
A. KDR uses top of the line, environmentally friendly materials. We are always looking to get top quality for your dollar and we are always looking for new products that offer 'more' in terms of strength, durability and energy efficiency.
